TO ENTERTAIN SOLDIERS •H: ext Sunday, January 10th, the rch people of Tryon will again ertain soldiers from Camp Croft. Those who will entertain guests from Camp Croft at din ner are asked to notify Mrs. F. P. Bacon as early in the week as possible. Forty men are expected. The Parish House will be open at four o’clock in the afternoon, where hosts are asked to bring their guests. Games and singing will be enjoyed; there will be a brief religious service, conducted by Dr. George F. Taylor; and supper will be served. Expressions of appreciation from men who have been entertained in Tryon during the last year show that this plan of entertainment is very much worth while. I DONALD RICHARD FORD Donald Richard Ford, two-weeks olds son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Ford of Columbus, died at his | home Sunday morning1 after a | short illness. The little boy is i survived by his parents, Mr. and ! Mrs. Grover Ford, three sisters Jenette, Mary Elizabeth and Mar garet Ford and one brother Earle Ford, all of Columbus. Funeral services were held Monday morn ing at 11 o’clock at White Oak Baptist church with the Rev. Mal colm J. Ross officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. RATIONING NOTE Due to an enormous increase in clerical work it has become neces sary for the Polk County War Price and Rationing Board to close its office to the public for three half-days per week. Hence forth, the office will be open to the public only as follows: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fri days—9 a. m., to 1 p. m.; Tues days, Thursdays and Saturdays— 9 a. m.i to 5 p. m. H. B. Vanderhoef, Chm. TWO MEN WANTED! The following registrants of this local board have failed to keep us infomed of their correct ad dresses.
